Field Trip

Hi everyone! I went on a field trip to the Court House (i think that's what's it called.) It was fun and boring. The fun part is when I get to go to jail. I thought the jail was fake but the person that take care of those things said it was real!WOW! Now the boring part is when the judge was giving speeches i mean it was like an hour. Some kids even fell asleep. Bye.

2010 Mardi Gras

The origins of Mardi Gras can be traced to Medival Europe, though we have no written record of how that really transformed into the current Mardi Gras of today. But the origins of the Mardi Gras we celebrate today, with Kings, Mardi Gras colors, and brass bands are traced to New Orleans.

Mardi Gras came to New Orleans through its French heritage in 1699. Early explorers celebrated this French Holiday on the banks of the Mississippi River. Throughout the years, Orleanians have added to the celebration by establishing krewes (organizations) which host parades and balls. Carnival quickly became an exciting holiday for both children and adults.
Mardi Gras means “Fat Tuesday” and of course is celebrated on that day of the week. The date can fall between February 3 and March 9 depending on the Lunar calendar. Mardi Gras is always 47 days before Easter Sunday.

The official colors for Mardi Gras are purple, green, and gold. These colors were chosen in 1872 by the King of Carnival, Rex. The colors represent the following: purple represents justice, green stands for faith and gold stands for power.

People have trouble driving cars , walking on streets , and more. So make sure that if you drive a car or any there vehicle drive safe in the snow. Also it says that in Louisiana where I live, it will be snowing there on Friday. Anyway there are too many snow in the United States. I don't know a lot about snow.Bye

Groundhog Day

Today is Tuesday and it's Groundhog's Day. People in America is celebrating Groundhog's Day. Here are some things about groundhog :The groundhog's shadow scares him. When a groundhog does not see his shadow, it means we will have an early spring. Groundhogs hibernate or sleep through the winter. The groundhog is also called a woodchuck. The groundhog makes his home in the ground. Some people think we will have six more weeks of winter if the groundhog sees his shadow on February 2. I don't really have much to say.
